T-Mobile Samsung Behold SGH-T919 - Rose
Behold the SAMSUNG Behold™. This touch screen device is so advanced, it reacts to your every touch. In other words, you’ll know precisely when you’ve activated the 5.0 megapixel camera, or the full HTML browser, or the MP3 player, or the advanced GPS Navigation system. And once you’ve touched the Behold, you may never stop.
5.0 megapixels means the Behold is a very serious camera. That means you’ll be able to take seriously beautiful pictures whenever the moment presents itself. The Behold also has a camcorder, so you’ll be able to take beautiful videos, as well.
The good: The Samsung Behold has an attractive design with a responsive touch screen. The feature set offers a range of options and call and photo quality meet the mark. Also, T-Mobile's 3G network is lightning fast.
The badThe bad: The Samsung Behold lacks Wi-Fi and its memory card slot is in an inconvenient location. Speakerphone quality was just average and the Web browser wasn't quite up to par.
The bottom lineThe bottom line: Though it lacks Wi-Fi, the Samsung Behold is a sleek touch-screen phone with a range of features and an easily understood interface.
The HTC Touch Pro2
Pick it back up again, and it reverts back to a personal phone. Beautiful, elegant, and so simple, it's a wonder it was never thought of before!
The Touch Pro2 comes with a large 3.6" touchscreen, which should make Web browsing almost as good as desktop-based Web browsing, and all the usual paraphernalia, including GPS, 7.2Mbps HSDPA. It also comes with a bevvy of sensors, including proximity, gravity and ambient light sensors. Not only does the HTC Touch Pro2 know where it is, therefore, it knows which way up it is, how close to you it is, and even what the lighting conditions are like.
One of the more impressive Windows Mobile phones at MWC this year was the HTC Touch Pro2. Sporting the same enhanced TouchFLO user interface as the Touch Diamond2, the Touch Pro2 features a smaller camera (3.2 megapixels, compared to the Diamond2's 5 megapixels), but a much better keyboard. As you can see from the pics, it features a full QWERTY keyboard that slides open and pivots.
Features Nokia 7510 Supernova
The same day T-Mobile announced its new RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 and T-Mobile Shadow, the carrier also rolled out the Nokia 7510. First unveiled just three weeks ago at the 2009 CES the 7510 is a chunky flip phone with a midrange feature set.
The good: The Nokia 7510 has a brilliant display, good call clarity, and a midrange feature set that includes Wi-Fi.
The bad: The Nokia 7510 call volume is rather low and the keypad and navigation controls are slippery. Also, we aren't crazy about the button on the hinge.
The bottom line: The Nokia 7510 is a decent midrange phone that offers Wi-Fi for making calls. It earns points for a unique design, but we wish the call volume were louder.
Features Nokia 7510 SupernovaEach contact in the 7510's phone book holds five phone numbers, an e-mail address, a URL, street address, a birthday, a formal name and nickname, a company, a job title, and notes. You can save callers to groups and pair them with one of 21 polyphonic ringtones and a photo or video.
Essentials include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a calendar, an alarm clock, a to-do list, a notepad, a calculator, a stopwatch a world clock, a converter, and a speakerphone. On the higher end, you'll find Bluetooth, PC syncing, USB mass storage, voice commands, Web-based POP3 e-mail, Adobe Flash Lite 2.0, a voice memo recorder, and instant messaging. On the upside, it also has integrated Wi-Fi for use with T-Mobile's HotSpot @Home service.
T-Mobile's BlackBerry Curve 8900s
The speakerphone functions very well from the perspective of the remote caller, though it can sound a bit harsh to the Curve user. RIM rates the Curve 8900 for 6 hours of talk time or up to 19 days of standby time, and we can at least offer that the battery life seems better than in the 8300 series devices. For T-Mobile USA users, the Curve 8900 is compatible with the carrier's My Faves calling service.
Contact management on the Curve 8900 is very good, and the ability to search for contacts merely by typing a first and/or last name from the home screen is handy. Ring profiles on the 8900 are hugely customizable, though still a bit complex due to all of the available settings. Speed dials and speaker independent voice dialing is also available on this newest member of the Curve family.
Messaging is still the focus of any BlackBerry, and the Curve 8900 deals with such tasks well. Multiple email accounts can be easily configured on the device, and users have options as to whether they prefer combined or separate inboxes for their email and SMS/MMS messages. RIM thoughtfully included a large number of keyboard shortcuts to make messaging even faster, such as hitting the 'R' key to reply to a selected message in the inbox.
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 functions on any of the four major GSM/EDGE network bands, but lacks 3G connectivity completely. WiFi access will help mitigate that omission, but even the WiFi data speeds seem sluggish at times. The Curve 8900 supports USB mass storage emulation and Bluetooth connectivity for headsets as well as stereo headphones.tinue to experience strong demand through launch. Due to its popularity, quantities may be limited in some stores, and we are working to meet the strong demand. The Curve 8900 is also available online at T-Mobile.com, and by calling 1-800-T-MOBILE. We're pleased to see our customers' excitement for the thinnest, lightest full-QWERTY BlackBerry on the market."
At 112g (3.9oz) in weight and measuring 109.5mm x 60.5mm x 13.5mm (4.3" x 2.4" x .5") in size, the new Curve is basically the same size and weight as the original, though it is appreciably thinner. The keyboard on the device is much like the original's and offers great feel. The new trackball is a bit stiffer and slightly harder to use, though. The 8900's display is a beautiful 480x360 pixel unit that measures 2.4 inches across the diagonal. It's smaller than the display on the Bold 9000, but sports more pixels.
Samsung Memoir T929 First 8MP Camera Phone in the US
Is this a camera or a phone? The answer is, of course, both, although it certainly looks more like the former. Samsung’s new 8 megapixel Memoir is to be carried by T-Mobile, and is the touchscreen successor to the Samsung Behold, itself a passable 5MP shooter.
In fact, apart from its sleek good looks and three million extra pixels, the T929 (Memoir) isn’t much different from the T919 (Behold). It uses the same TouchWiz interface and also has a Xenon flash (not really a flash — more of a flashlight), a 16x digital zoom (like all digital zooms, best avoided) and an autofocus lens. The camera/phone also comes with a rather splendid piece of marketing bunk:
With the 8-megapixel Samsung Memoir, T-Mobile customers can capture and share little slices of life in all their vibrant brilliance.
